Sowore Accuses Police Cameraman of Stealing AI Glasses at Protest

Rights activist Omoyele Sowore has named a staff cameraman attached to the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Office as the alleged thief of his AI-powered Ray-Ban glasses, which went missing during a protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 21, 2025, during a demonstration led by Sowore in support of retired police officers demanding improved pension entitlements.

Following the protest, Sowore reported that his smart glasses had been stolen. A viral video later surfaced, showing an individual removing the glasses directly from his face.

In a Facebook post the next day, Sowore identified the suspect as Aku Victor Chiemere, claiming he works as a cameraman under the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi.

“Yesterday, during the historic #PoliceProtest at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, Aku Victor Chiemere… stole my Ray-Ban AI smart glasses,” Sowore wrote.

“This act is not only criminal, it is a reprehensible abuse of office orchestrated by a senior police officer.”

He demanded the immediate return of the glasses and called for the prosecution of both CSP Adejobi and Chiemere for theft, conspiracy, and official misconduct.

As of press time, the Nigeria Police Force has not issued a statement in response to the allegations.
