Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as an ineffective agency that has failed in its mandate to combat corruption.
In a post shared via his official X account on Tuesday, Sowore wrote that the EFCC had become a “see no evil, say no evil, do no good agency.”
The activist, known for his outspoken stance on governance and accountability, has frequently accused Nigeria’s anti-graft institutions of selective prosecution and political bias. His latest remarks add to the ongoing public debate about the commission’s performance under its current leadership.
While the EFCC has continued to highlight its successes in arresting cybercrime suspects and recovering stolen funds, critics argue that the agency has been less aggressive in pursuing high-profile corruption cases involving politically connected individuals.
