Sowore on Obasanjo-Fayose Feud, ‘Two Deputy Devils Fighting’

Omoyele Sowore, the activist and former presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has waded into the renewed public hostilities between former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, dismissing their clash as a fight between two lesser “devils.”

Sowore voiced his strong opinion in a reaction posted on his X platform on Monday, the 17th of November, 2025.

The renewed feud began on Monday after Fayose criticized a recent comment by Obasanjo, calling the elder statesman’s remarks “irresponsible.”

The animosity reignited following a remark made by Obasanjo during Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration. Obasanjo stated that he had forgiven the former governor despite the poor treatment he had received from Fayose in the past.

Fayose’s fierce reaction to this patronizing statement appears to have been the catalyst for Sowore’s intervention.

Reacting to the bitter exchange, Sowore posted his definitive assessment on X, stating: “Obasanjo versus Fayose is when two deputy devils jam each other.”

He further highlighted the intensity of Fayose’s response to the former president’s birthday comments: “The way Fayose insulted Obasanjo, telling him he ‘belongs to the zoo’ after Obasanjo made those unpleasant remarks at his birthday, was something else entirely.”
