Nollywood actor Stan Nze has publicly condemned a wave of phone thefts reported during a service of songs held in honour of his close associate, Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
The emotional event, which was meant to be a solemn gathering for mourning and remembrance, reportedly took a troubling turn when several guests discovered that their mobile phones had gone missing. Among those affected were actresses Bambam and Susan Peters.
In a video shared via his Instagram page on Thursday, Nze expressed deep disappointment over the incident , questioning the moral state of society and urging Nigerians to reflect on personal responsibility rather than placing blame solely on government institutions.
“My heart is really full… we complain about government, the killings, the insurgencies — but what are our values as a people?” he said.

He lamented that over five phones were reported missing during the gathering, describing the act as insensitive and deeply hurtful, especially in a mourning environment.
He further argued that societal change must begin at the individual level, stressing that integrity, kindness, and accountability are essential values that cannot be replaced by political criticism alone.
According to him, the breakdown of moral conduct in everyday life reflects a deeper national challenge.
Nze also referenced religious and ethical teachings, emphasizing that true faith should be reflected in compassion, honesty, and care for others, particularly the vulnerable.
He called on Nigerians to “do the right thing in their little circles” and to speak up against wrongdoing wherever it occurs.
The incident has since sparked conversations online about public conduct at private and emotional gatherings, as well as broader concerns about trust and moral standards in society.
