Stop Insults, Show Respect — Buhari’s Ally, Farouk Aliyu Warns Nigerians

Farouk Aliyu, a longtime associate of the late Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed disappointment over the online attacks directed at the former president following his death on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Aliyu, who once served as the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, shared his views during an appearance on Sunrise Daily, a programme aired on Channels Television, on Monday, the 14th of July, 2025.

He acknowledged that while Buhari, like every other individual, had flaws, the former leader deserved credit for his impact.

“Each of us must have done something wrong to someone in one way or the other. It is quite unfortunate that Nigerians are heaping insults on former president Buhari after he has died.

“We all are humans and have our different shortcomings. Buhari is no exception. He should be respected and praised for his own contribution to our national growth and development,” he said.

Aliyu maintained that public discourse should show more regard for those who once held the country’s highest office, especially in death.
