Real estate developer Sijibomi Ogundele, popularly known as Sujimoto, has reacted to being declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), insisting that the allegations against him stem from a contractual dispute with the Enugu State Government.
In a video shared on social media, Ogundele broke down in tears, maintaining that he has not engaged in fraud or money laundering as alleged.
“I’m not a thief, I’m not a fugitive. This is a contract between my company and the Enugu State Government. I’m going to the EFCC to clear my name,” he said.
The developer explained that his firm was engaged to design a 69-storey skyscraper and build schools in Enugu. He said the project was affected by rising construction costs, with cement prices increasing from ₦7,000 to ₦10,000 per bag, and added that his staff were attacked on site during the course of work.
According to him, the disagreement with the state government later moved to court, and efforts at reconciliation failed.

He accused the EFCC’s wanted notice of tarnishing his reputation and destroying his company, but vowed to submit himself to investigators.
As earlier reported by a correspondent at First Daily, the EFCC had earlier in the day, declared Ogundele wanted over alleged involvement in obtaining money under false pretence, money laundering, and diversion of funds.
The Commission urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to its offices or the nearest police station.
