Super Eagles and Fulham forward Samuel Chukwueze has been thrown into mourning following the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, who passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The loss was confirmed by his brother, Chukwueze David, who shared emotional tributes on Instagram celebrating their mother’s life and the role she played in raising the family. The details of her illness have not been made public.
This comes just two days after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father in a fatal road accident in Delta State, marking a difficult period for Nigeria’s national team.

Samuel Chukwueze, 26, has been a regular presence in the Super Eagles since making his senior debut in 2018.
