Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating one of Nigeria’s most enduring statesmen, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, who clocks 100 years today.
In a message shared on his official X handle, Senator Tambuwal described the centenarian as “a towering figure of our national journey, a repository of wisdom, and a father to generations.” He noted that reaching a hundred years is a rare grace, and the nation is privileged to witness such a landmark age in gratitude to Allah.
Tambuwal paid tribute to Alhaji Yakasai’s lifelong contribution to Nigeria’s political evolution, recalling his role in pre-independence struggle, nation-building and his influence across eras of governance, reform and civic engagement.
According to Tambuwal:

At a century of life, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai remains a living archive of our collective history. He has walked through the seasons of Nigeria nationhood, from pre-independence activism to the birth of the republic, through eras of reform, struggle, and renewal. With courage and clarity, he contributed to the shaping of the nation we call home.
Baba Yakasai is among the few who remain relevant across generations. While many live long, only a select few spend their years in service to society. His longevity is not in number alone but in influence and legacy. He represents resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the unity of Nigeria.
