On the 2nd of April, 2025, the Taraba State Police Command revealed the exciting launch of National Police Day, a new annual event to be held every 7th of April.
This initiative, as announced by Commissioner Bretet Emmanuel Simon, follows a presidential mandate to celebrate the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of police officers nationwide.
The event, which is open to the public, aims to build stronger connections between law enforcement and the community, fostering trust and collaboration.
In a statement shared with journalists in Jalingo by the command’s spokesperson, James Leshen, Simon emphasized that the day will feature a series of activities designed to engage and uplift the community while promoting safety and well-being.

Planned events include a town hall meeting with key stakeholders, a sanitation and cleanup drive, a free medical outreach, educational programs on social vices in schools, and a walkathon to promote unity and strength.
Simon stressed the importance of National Police Day in enhancing public trust and boosting security efforts, stating, “This celebration underscores our dedication to ensuring public safety and strengthening our bond with the communities we serve.”
The command is encouraging full participation from the public, highlighting the collective responsibility to foster a safer society.
Simon also stated that National Police Day is set to become a cherished annual tradition, celebrating the vital contributions of police officers and their role in national development.
