The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, June 19, 2026, sentenced two women linked to slain terror commander Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo to prison terms after convicting them of terrorism-related offences filed by the State Security Service (SSS).
The convicts, Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi, identified as Battujo’s mother and sister, were found guilty after pleading guilty to multiple counts bordering on support for terrorist activities.
Delivering judgment the same day, Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa convicted them on Counts 2, 4 and 5 of a five-count charge instituted by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
The court held that they aided Battujo’s operations by transmitting sensitive information via telephone and by failing to report intelligence that could have led to his arrest.

Two counts were struck out after prosecution counsel, Oyedepo Rotimi, SAN, withdrew them. The withdrawn charges included allegations of receiving ₦490,300 suspected to be terrorism proceeds and benefiting from pilgrimage sponsorship linked to illicit funds.
Prosecutors said the defendants knowingly supported Battujo’s activities by sharing operational information, offences under Section 26 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The court sentenced each defendant to 20 years on each count, but ordered the terms to run concurrently, giving an effective 20-year jail term each.
Battujо, described as a notorious bandit commander, was killed in a security operation on June 10, 2026, in a forest near Iluke in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The judgment is part of ongoing terrorism trials before the Abuja court targeting alleged members of extremist support networks.
