Thailand, Cambodia Reach Agreement on Immediate Ceasefire, Anwar says

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to commence an immediate and unconditional ceasefire starting at midnight on Monday, July 28, 2025, following mediation efforts led by Malaysia.

This was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who disclosed the outcome of the talks during a press briefing after high-level negotiations held in Kuala Lumpur.

“Both Cambodia and Thailand reached a common understanding as follows: One, an immediate and unconditional ceasefire with effect from 24:00 local time, midnight on 28th July 2025, tonight,” Prime Minister Anwar stated.

The agreement marks a significant breakthrough after rising tensions between the two Southeast Asian neighbours, which had sparked concern across the region and internationally.
