Former BBNaija star and actress Phyna has voiced deep concerns over the growing hunger crisis plaguing Nigeria, a crisis that goes beyond empty plates to empty hearts.
In a powerful video message shared on her social media page, on the 20th of March, 2025, Phyna painted a vivid picture of the harsh realities Nigerians face daily.
She emphasized that the hunger sweeping through the country isn’t just about missed meals it’s about stolen dreams, interrupted lives, and the slow erosion of hope.
“The hunger, the hardship ravaging our beloved nation is an issue that strikes deep into the core of every Nigerian young and old, rich and poor. In every corner of this great country, the hunger we are experiencing today is not just the absence of food on our plates. It’s the absence of hope in our hearts,” she said.
The role interpreter lamented the widening gap between the rich and poor, describing hunger as not just a lack of food but a fight for dignity, survival, and humanity itself.
She highlighted the heartbreaking reality of children forced out of school in search of food, parents lying awake at night, stomachs empty, unsure of what tomorrow holds.
Yet, despite this crisis, she questioned why Nigerians remain silent.

“Despite this growing crisis, what do we see? Where is the collective voice that should speak for the voiceless? The silent majority who are battling not only to survive but to live with dignity, where is the unity that should bind us together as one nation?”
She urged Nigerians to break free from division and indifference, stressing that hunger isn’t a distant issue it is everywhere, in every home, in every community, in every heartbeat. The time to act, she insisted, is now.
Calling for accountability, Phyna challenged leaders to prioritize food security and dignity for all.
But she didn’t stop there she reminded every Nigerian that the fight against hunger isn’t just the government’s responsibility but a collective duty.
For Phyna, the path forward is clear: unity, action, and an unrelenting demand for change.
