TikTok has taken down more than 3.6 million videos posted by Nigerian users in the first quarter of 2025 for violating its content policies.
The figure, released in TikTok’s Q1 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, reflects a sharp rise from the 2.4 million videos removed in the last quarter of 2024.
According to the report, 98.4 percent of the removed videos were flagged and taken down proactively before being reported by users, while 92.1 percent were removed within 24 hours of posting.
The platform also cracked down on covert influence operations in March 2025, removing 129 accounts across West Africa linked to such activities.
Globally, TikTok deleted over 211 million videos in Q1 2025, up from 153 million in the previous quarter.

Of these, more than 184 million were identified and removed using automated detection tools. The company also removed 44.7 million fake comments during the period.
“We remain vigilant in our efforts to detect external threats and safeguard the platform from fake accounts and engagement,” TikTok said in the report.
“These threats persistently probe and attack our systems, leading to occasional fluctuations in the reported metrics within these areas.
“Despite this, we are steadfast in our commitment to promptly identify and remove any accounts, content, or activities that seek to artificially boost popularity on our platform.”
