President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on his 63rd birthday, applauding his outstanding contributions to governance and national development.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Fashola as a principled leader whose years in public office were defined by competence, discipline and a commitment to service.
Tinubu said Fashola’s tenure as Lagos governor from 2007 to 2015 helped deepen institutional reforms and accelerate development across key sectors, reinforcing the state’s reputation for effective governance.

He also praised the former minister’s role in the Federal Executive Council between 2015 and 2023, saying he approached the responsibilities of overseeing the works, power and housing portfolios with diligence and professionalism.
Reflecting on their longstanding political association, the President recalled Fashola’s earlier service as his Chief of Staff, describing him as a trusted ally who consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership.
Tinubu wished the former governor good health, renewed strength and many more years of fruitful service to the nation.
