Tinubu Expresses Hope For Nigeria’s Recovery Amid Economic Challenges At 74

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current economic and social challenges, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to national development.

The president spoke on Sunday after special birthday prayers held in his honour at the National Mosque Abuja, where he described the occasion as a moment for gratitude and reflection on the state of the nation.

Tinubu acknowledged that Nigeria is going through a difficult period, attributing part of the hardship to external pressures, particularly the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. He noted that global instability has had ripple effects on the country’s economy, contributing to rising inflation and increased cost of living.

“We are going through a very difficult period which is not entirely of our own making,” he said, while also offering prayers for global peace and stability.

The president highlighted key concerns facing Nigerians, including electricity shortages, rising transportation costs, and inflationary pressures. Despite these challenges, he maintained that the country’s resilience would see it through the current phase.

“We are challenged… but we will overcome it. We are a resilient nation,” Tinubu said, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s ability to navigate the situation.

He also expressed appreciation for the widespread goodwill messages he received from Nigerians across the country as he marked his 74th birthday, describing the outpouring of support as encouraging.

“It was a deluge of best wishes, and I appreciate all Nigerians,” he added.

Tinubu used the occasion to call for renewed commitment to national progress, urging citizens to remain united and focused on building a stronger and more prosperous country.

The president’s remarks come at a time of heightened economic concerns, with many Nigerians grappling with rising living costs and uncertainty driven by both domestic reforms and global economic shifts.

While acknowledging the weight of these challenges, Tinubu’s message struck a hopeful tone, emphasising faith, resilience, and collective responsibility as key pillars for overcoming the nation’s current difficulties.
