President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, August 27, 2026 held a closed-door meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja.
The governors, under the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), arrived at the Presidential Villa shortly after 3 p.m. after attending an earlier National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Details of the agenda and outcome were not immediately disclosed.

The meeting came amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections and five days after the APC unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council.
Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General of the council, which is expected to coordinate the party’s presidential campaign.
The talks underline ongoing consultations within the ruling party as it positions for the 2027 elections.
The meeting was still underway at the time of filing this report.
