Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where discussions centred on the security situation in Zamfara State, alongside economic and political developments.
The meeting, confirmed in a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Idris, focused largely on the persistent insecurity in the North-West state, where banditry and related violent crimes have remained a major concern.
Lawal briefed the president on steps being taken by his administration to address the security challenges, while also outlining key areas where additional federal intervention is needed to strengthen ongoing operations and restore lasting stability across affected communities.
President Tinubu, according to the statement, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting Zamfara’s security efforts.

He assured that measures were underway to reinforce troop deployment and improve logistical and operational support for security agencies in the state.
Beyond security, the governor also presented an update on Zamfara’s economic performance, noting improvements in internally generated revenue and ongoing efforts to stimulate local economic activity.
He appealed for enhanced federal collaboration to boost industrial growth and create more employment opportunities.
The engagement came shortly after the president’s meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, as part of broader consultations with state leaders on national security and economic priorities.
