President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the military, police, the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.
The directive was issued on Sunday, January 4, 2026, following the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children during an attack on the community on Saturday.
In a statement released on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.
The President also ordered security agencies to urgently rescue all abducted victims and intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly those located near forests believed to serve as hideouts for criminal elements.
The attackers were described as terrorists suspected to be fleeing increased military pressure in parts of Sokoto and Zamfara states following a United States air strike carried out on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025.
Tinubu strongly condemned the attack on Kasuwan Daji, describing the killings and abductions as unacceptable acts of terror against innocent Nigerians.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must therefore face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President said.
He warned that anyone found aiding, abetting, or enabling the attackers in any form would also be apprehended and prosecuted.
The President extended his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Niger State Government and residents affected by the attack.

He urged Nigerians to remain united and avoid divisive rhetoric capable of undermining national security efforts, stressing that collective resolve was critical to defeating terrorism.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, reclaim peace in these communities,” Tinubu said.
The Kasuwan Daji attack is the latest in a series of security incidents in parts of Niger State, where rural communities have increasingly come under threat from armed groups operating across forest corridors linking the North-Central and North-West regions.
