Tinubu Nominates Tegbe As Power Minister To Drive Sector Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.

The nomination, conveyed to the Senate for screening and approval, follows the resignation of former Minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office.

Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with more than three decades of experience across both public and private sectors.

He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives focused on fiscal policy reform, institutional restructuring, and governance.

According to the State House, Tegbe has extensive experience within the power sector, including involvement in regulatory and institutional reforms with agencies such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company.

The Presidency noted that his nomination is expected to bolster ongoing reforms aimed at improving grid stability, expanding electricity access, and attracting sustainable investment into Nigeria’s power sector.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that, upon confirmation, Tegbe will leverage his expertise to advance critical reforms and deliver improved outcomes for Nigerians, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
