Tinubu Nominates UK- based Doctor Bernard Doro as Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

Dr. Doro’s name has now been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.

Dr. Doro’s nomination follows the recent elevation of Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, also from Plateau State, to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

Professor Yilwatda previously served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of professional experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, a Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Dr. Doro is an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), working across urgent care, walk-in centres, general practices, and hospitals.

He has also led youth mentorship and social impact initiatives in both diaspora and local communities.

If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will assume the role of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, succeeding Professor Yilwatda.

The appointment is part of President Tinubu’s broader efforts to strengthen leadership within the federal government and ensure effective management of humanitarian and social intervention programs
