President Bola Tinubu has ordered all political appointees in his administration planning to contest in the 2027 general elections to vacate their positions on or before Monday, March 31, 2026.
The directive, issued on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, forms part of early preparations for the next electoral cycle and reinforces compliance with existing electoral regulations.
Those affected include members of the Federal Executive Council, presidential aides across various ranks, as well as heads and chief executives of federal agencies, parastatals, commissions, and government-owned enterprises.

The affected officials are expected to formally channel their resignation letters through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation within the stipulated timeline.
