The Nigeria Police Force in Imo State has organised a one-day interfaith security summit aimed at strengthening safety in worship centres and deepening collaboration with religious institutions.
The summit, convened on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, brought together key stakeholders, including leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Chief Imam of Imo State, priests, pastors, and other clergy from churches and mosques across the state, as well as representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee.
With the theme, “How to Identify, Manage and Report Cases of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Worship Centres,” the summit focused on enhancing awareness and preparedness against potential security threats.
Bosso, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Hamzat A. Abdulkadir, said the initiative was part of proactive policing measures designed to foster stronger partnerships with religious bodies.
“We have invited you all as one of the command’s measures for proactive policing and to emphasise the importance of partnership with religious institutions in Imo State,” he said.
In separate goodwill messages, the CAN Secretary, Pastor Sam Akujiobi, and the Chief Imam of Imo State commended the initiative, stressing the need for sustained collaboration between security agencies and religious organisations.

The event was attended by senior police officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Danshuwar Abuja, as well as commanders of the Anti-Bomb Unit and the Counter Terrorism Unit.
Delivering a lecture at the summit, the Commander of the Anti-Bomb Unit, CSP Moses Ogini, provided practical guidance on identifying suspicious objects, appropriate response measures, and reporting procedures to prevent potential attacks.
The summit also featured an interactive session where participants made contributions on improving safety in worship centres across the state.
The police command reiterated its commitment to working closely with stakeholders to ensure a safer environment for residents of Imo State.
