President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring the security and unity of Nigeria. The President made the declaration in a statement posted via his official X account on Friday, pledging to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty while strengthening partnerships with global allies.
In the statement, Tinubu acknowledged the long-standing challenges posed by terrorism, which he described as a battle Nigeria has faced for nearly two decades. He assured citizens that his government would not relent until the country triumphs over insurgency.
“We are indeed faced with terrorism—a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades—and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle. Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle,” the President stated.
He emphasized that Nigeria remains resolute in its diplomatic engagements and committed to asserting its presence on the global stage with “unwavering calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose.” Tinubu added that his administration would continue to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at building a prosperous and inclusive nation.
“The task ahead is immense, yet our resolve is even greater. We will continue to sustain and build on our reform gains and deliver a prosperous and inclusive Nigeria,” he said.
The President further urged international partners to continue supporting Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism, noting that significant progress had been recorded in recent years. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s role as a “reliable partner and dependable ally” in promoting peace and stability across the region.

Tinubu also paid tribute to members of the armed forces and intelligence community, praising their courage and sacrifices in defending the country. “To the brave men and women of our armed forces and intelligence community united by purpose, regardless of tribe or religion, who serve fearlessly, fight side-by-side and sometimes pay the ultimate price, we express our deepest gratitude,” he wrote.
Reiterating his vision for unity and collective progress, the President declared, “Nigeria is one united family. We rise together, move forward together, and reject despair in favour of determination.”
