President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday returned to Abuja following an extended stay in Lagos, where he participated in political activities, observed the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and held a series of official engagements.
The presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 5:17 p.m., according to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Upon arrival, Tinubu was welcomed by several top government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
The President’s visit to Lagos was marked by a mix of political consultations, religious observances and national assignments.
During the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, Tinubu hosted a number of high-profile visitors, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Senate leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and governors under the umbrella of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He also received stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress from Oyo State, including the party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as APC candidates contesting legislative positions in Lagos State.
On Monday, the President attended the 2026 International Fleet Review held at Eko Atlantic City as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

The President’s return to Abuja is expected to signal the resumption of regular official activities at the seat of government following the holiday period and a busy schedule of political and national engagements in Lagos.
