Tinubu Set to Depart Abuja for South Africa, Angola Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu will embark on a two-nation trip on Wednesday, November 19, heading to Johannesburg and later Luanda for high-level global and continental meetings.

His travel plans were confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 18, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the President will first attend the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg before proceeding to Angola for the 7th African Union–European Union Summit.

Onanuga explained that Tinubu’s presence at the G20 Summit follows an invitation from South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the G20.

He added that Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva had extended a similar invitation during his chairmanship in 2024.

The G20 gathering, scheduled for November 22 and 23 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, will draw leaders of the world’s biggest economies, as well as representatives of the EU, AU and international financial bodies.
