Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pay a two-day working visit to the state to inaugurate selected projects and participate in the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
According to the governor, the President’s visit is scheduled to take place between the 11th and 14th of February, during which he will commission projects completed by the Kebbi State Government and take part in activities lined up for this year’s Argungu festival.
Idris made the announcement on Sunday in Jega Local Government Area while welcoming defectors from various political parties who formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He called on residents of the state to come out en masse to receive the President, explaining that although limited time may not allow for the inauguration of every completed project, several major ones have been selected for commissioning during the visit.
The governor also noted that this year’s Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival is expected to draw participants and visitors from across the country and other parts of the world.

Speaking on the wave of defections, Idris expressed satisfaction with the decision of the new members to join the APC, assuring them of fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities within the party.
He further highlighted that his administration has executed numerous development projects in Jega Local Government Area and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining development initiatives across Kebbi State.
The Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, first held in 1934 as a peace-building initiative between the Sokoto Caliphate and the Kebbi Kingdom, is staging its 61st edition this year. The festival was postponed in 2025 to allow for infrastructural improvements ahead of its return.
