Tinubu Urges Unity, Compassion As Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Fitr Nationwide

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging citizens to uphold the values of unity, compassion, and national responsibility beyond the holy month of Ramadan.

In a message shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the President congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while expressing gratitude to God for guidance and strength throughout the sacred period.

Tinubu highlighted the enduring lessons of Ramadan—alongside the Christian Lenten season—as essential virtues for national development, including patience, tolerance, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.

“Ramadan has taught us principles of giving, peace, love for country, and kindness. These are not seasonal virtues but the foundation upon which we must continue to build our nation,” he stated.

The President called on Nigerians to extend acts of generosity to the less privileged and remain committed to fostering harmony within their communities. He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security across the country.

“Stability and security are not the responsibility of one man alone. It is a shared duty. Nigerians must remain vigilant and report suspicious activities,” he added.

Tinubu’s message comes amid ongoing national concerns around security and social cohesion, as he urged citizens to sustain the spirit of Ramadan through continued good conduct, neighbourliness, and service to humanity.

He concluded by praying for peace, stability, and progress in Nigeria, expressing hope that the values embraced during Ramadan would guide citizens in building a more united and resilient nation.

The Eid-el-Fitr celebration marks the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting and is widely observed with prayers, charity, and communal gatherings across the country.
