Tinubu Vows Relentless Crackdown After Deadly Terror Attacks In Maiduguri

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, describing them as “desperate” attempts by insurgent groups to instill fear amid intensified military pressure.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his sympathies to the injured and residents of Borno State, who continue to bear the brunt of insecurity in the region.

“The recent news from Maiduguri is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time,” Tinubu said.

The President reassured Nigerians that the attacks signal weakening terrorist elements making frantic attempts to regain relevance as security forces intensify operations across various theatres.

“These acts of terror are the final desperate attempts by criminals trying to spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces,” he stated.

Tinubu commended the military and civilian task forces for their swift response in repelling coordinated assaults on military formations, praising their courage and resilience in the face of renewed threats.

“Our gallant troops successfully repelled the attacks. Their fighting spirit remains commendable,” he added.

The President revealed that new security measures had already been set in motion following a high-level meeting with security and intelligence chiefs held days before the attacks.

According to him, additional equipment and operational support have been approved to strengthen ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Tinubu also directed top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations and ensure a coordinated response to the situation.

Emergency response agencies have been tasked with providing immediate medical care and support to victims of the attacks.

Reaffirming his administration’s stance, the President declared that no part of Nigeria would be ceded to terrorist groups.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” he said.

He further urged citizens to remain resolute, emphasizing that the country would not succumb to fear despite ongoing security challenges.

The attacks in Maiduguri underscore the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups in Nigeria’s North-East, even as authorities continue efforts to restore lasting peace and stability in the region.
