Tinubu Will Be Nigeria’s Worst President If Re-Elected — Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

A former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has delivered a damning assessment of the president’s performance, declaring that Tinubu would make the worst president in Nigeria’s history if he wins a second term in 2027.

Baba-Ahmed, who resigned from the administration, made the remarks on Tuesday, February 17, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm programme.

The former adviser said things had only gotten worse since he left the government, painting a bleak picture of a country sliding deeper into insecurity and poverty under Tinubu’s watch.

“Our nation has been a lot more insecure now than I left. What I see at home and on the street when people speak, the level of desperation, poverty is most pronounced, especially in the Northern part of the country,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He accused the president of pursuing a flawed re-election strategy built on assembling politicians rather than delivering results that would speak for themselves.

“I see a president who is amassing all the politicians around him with the hope that those politicians are going to deliver him in the second term,” he said.

“That is poor thinking. It’s not strategic and it’s not Tinubu that we used to hear about,” he added.

Baba-Ahmed said he had hoped to see improvements since his departure but instead witnessed a deterioration across key areas of governance.

He did not hold back in delivering his final verdict on the president’s trajectory.

“I’m sorry to say that I think President Tinubu will make the worst president if he returns to power in 2027,” he said.

The comments represent one of the most striking criticisms of the Tinubu administration to come from a former insider, carrying additional weight because Baba-Ahmed once served within the president’s inner circle before stepping away.
