Okonjo-Iweala, a celebrated development economist and global finance expert, made history in 2021 as the first African and first woman to lead the 164-member WTO.
Meanwhile, She spoke at the launch of the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund in Abuja on Thursday, noting that only 45 percent of Nigerians have internet access, compared to the global average of 67 percent.
Okonjo-Iweala cautioned that Nigeria’s low internet penetration could hold back the nation’s ability to benefit from the booming global digital trade market.
