Tinubu’s Reforms Giving States More Money For Projects — Onanuga

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government have expanded the financial capacity of state governments, enabling them to undertake more development projects.

Onanuga spoke in Umuahia, Abia State, on Tuesday, June 16, during a reception organised for participants of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Tour, who visited the state to inspect projects executed by both the Federal Government and the Abia State Government.

According to him, the tour was designed to give media practitioners firsthand access to major projects across the country and provide a clearer picture of ongoing development efforts.

He emphasised the importance of cooperation between the Federal Government and state administrations, saying such partnerships are helping to drive progress nationwide.

“The federal and state governments are working together for the progress of Nigerians. The resources now available to states are enabling them to undertake projects that improve the lives of citizens,” Onanuga said.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, represented at the event by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, described the media tour as an important initiative that promotes openness in governance and helps citizens gain a better understanding of public projects.

He said the media plays a crucial role in informing the public and should remain committed to factual and balanced reporting.

Otti noted that the public depends on the media for accurate information, “hence the need for the team, not to merely report events, but to also provide context, balance and truth’.

The governor said his administration had spent the last three years rebuilding public confidence through transparent governance and investments in critical sectors.

“Over the past three years, our administration has remained committed to rebuilding public trust through transparent governance, improving infrastructure, enhancing security, revitalisation of education and healthcare sectors, supporting businesses and creating an enabling environment for economic growth and investment.

“The progress being recorded is not merely reflected in statistics, it is visible in the renewed confidence of our people and the ongoing transformation of communities across the state, which reflects the renewed hope agenda”, the governor said.

He also commended the Presidency for creating a platform that allows Nigerians to independently assess government projects and programmes.

The Renewed Hope Projects Media Tour is aimed at showcasing development initiatives across the country while providing journalists with direct access to ongoing projects at both federal and state levels.
