The accident occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Supare Junction along Supare Road in Supare-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area.

Police authorities confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday, March 30, 2026, stating that the driver had been arrested and the vehicle impounded as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The incident has triggered grief and outrage among residents, many of whom describe the Supare–Akungba corridor as increasingly dangerous due to the frequent movement of heavy-duty trucks and poor compliance with traffic regulations.
Community members say previous accidents in the area have raised similar concerns, with repeated calls for stricter enforcement and better traffic control measures yet to yield lasting results.
Residents are now urging authorities to take decisive action to prevent further loss of life, particularly among vulnerable road users such as children.
