American rap superstar, Travis Scott, set Johannesburg ablaze over the weekend as he performed to a sold-out crowd of more than 70,000 fans at the FNB Stadium. The electrifying concert marked the South African leg of his ongoing Circus Maximus world tour, held in support of his chart-topping album, Utopia.
Despite gloomy skies and chilly weather, fans trooped in early, eager to witness the long-awaited performance. As the lights dimmed and flames lit up the night sky, the energy in the stadium reached fever pitch. Travis opened the show with “Hyaena,” followed by “Modern Jam,” “My Eyes,” and crowd favourites such as “Butterfly Effect” and “Mamacita.”
Known for his high-octane stagecraft, the rapper transformed the FNB Stadium into a spectacle of pyrotechnics, lasers, smoke effects, and booming sound. The setlist seamlessly blended his classic hits with new tracks from Utopia, keeping the audience in a frenzy from start to finish.
Midway through the show, Travis paused to soak in the roaring crowd as tens of thousands of fans rapped along to every word. Clearly moved by the moment, he thanked South Africa for its unwavering support and promised to return soon.
