Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Arms In Yobe

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered locally fabricated firearms, ammunition and other items during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The operation was carried out on July 23 by troops of the 233 Battalion, Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, at Jegalari Village following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected criminal elements in the area.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, Capt.

Mohammed Goni, the coordinated raid led to the arrest of five suspects believed to be involved in kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Items recovered during the operation included three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones suspected to be linked to the activities of the suspects.

The military said the suspects are currently in custody alongside the recovered exhibits as investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.

army described the arrest as part of its sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying terrorists and criminal elements freedom of action across the North-East.

The military also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons and activities to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to ongoing efforts to improve security and protect communities across the region.
