Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralised eight fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a clash in Borno State.
Military sources disclosed that the encounter took place early Monday near Garin Giwa along the Baga–Cross Kauwa supply route.
The insurgents, who attempted to disrupt military movements, were met with heavy resistance.
Among those killed were two senior field commanders identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota.
Several others reportedly sustained gunshot wounds while retreating.

Soldiers recovered 14 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
“The theatre command remains resolute in the mission to stamp out terrorism and restore peace across the north-east,” the source confirmed.
The incident follows last month’s operation in Kumshe, another Borno community, where troops killed over 35 ISWAP fighters in a coordinated offensive.
