Troops Kill 15 Boko Haram Terrorists in Borno Attack

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area of Borno State, following a fierce exchange of fire with insurgents who employed heavy weaponry, including rocket-propelled grenades and armed drones.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the attack was launched by terrorists targeting both troops and military bases.

Despite the intensity of the assault, soldiers on the ground, reinforced by elements from the 29 Task Force Brigade, held their positions and overpowered the attackers with superior firepower, inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy.

Credible intelligence reports indicate that the terrorists suffered significant losses, with about 15 bodies later buried by their comrades near Bula Wura, close to Wasaram.

However, the Army confirmed that four soldiers were killed in action, while five others sustained injuries. Some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and gun trucks also sustained damage during the firefight.

In an effort to prevent reinforcements and cause further casualties, the terrorists planted multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR).

This forced a temporary closure of the route as Army engineers swiftly cleared three IED-laden spots.

The road has since been reopened to both military and civilian movement.

Troops have since been resupplied with essential logistics, including MRAP tyres and ammunition, to maintain operational momentum and sustain patrols.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba said the 29 Task Force Brigade has launched aggressive fighting patrols and exploitation operations to deny the terrorists freedom of movement and consolidate security gains in the area.

He commended the troops for their bravery and resilience, assuring residents that normalcy has been restored and that ongoing operations will ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
