Troops Kill Two Terrorists in Borno Ambush Operation

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised two suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during an ambush around Hudugum village in the Hambagda area along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on Thursday via his official X handle, noting that the operation took place on Wednesday under Operation Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search.

According to Makama, the troops from the 192 Battalion, working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists’ logistics team around 6:30 p.m. and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.

The encounter reportedly left two insurgents dead, while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the Mandara Mountains.

Recovered items from the scene included three bicycles, mats, wrappers, blankets, solar panels, torchlights, clothing materials, condiments, and phone cases believed to have been part of the insurgents’ supply cache.

The military confirmed that the ambush was successful, with no casualties or equipment losses recorded among the troops.

After the engagement, the soldiers safely returned to base around 7:50 p.m., while a follow-up operation was scheduled to trace and eliminate the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes at dawn.

The latest success adds to a series of intensified counter-terrorism operations by Nigerian troops aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics and restoring peace in the North-East region.
