Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, during an operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the rescue followed a distress call reporting Adamu’s abduction while he was sleeping outside his compound.
Acting swiftly, troops deployed in Lau mobilised and pursued the kidnappers.
Realising that the soldiers were closing in, the criminals abandoned their victim and fled into nearby bushes.
Adamu was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family without any ransom paid.
In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters patrolling the Maraban Kunini area apprehended a suspected kidnapper identified as Mr. Lalau Adamu (30), alleged to have participated in the abduction.
When troops arrived at the scene, they found the suspect injured after being attacked by a mob.

He was evacuated under military protection to a medical facility for treatment, and an investigation into the case is ongoing.
The Commander, 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the swift and coordinated efforts of the troops, vigilantes, and local hunters, noting that the success reflected growing synergy between security agencies and communities.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist ongoing efforts in maintaining peace and combating criminal activities across Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasising its determination to rid the state and its environs of bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements.
