Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully repelled a terrorist reprisal attack in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, following the killing of a notorious bandit leader identified as Abu A.K and several members of his gang.
According to intelligence sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Wednesday, the attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon along the Marabar Kyaware–Unguwar Chida axis.
It was added that the troops were conducting a stop-and-search operation, and came under heavy fire from a large number of armed terrorists.
The soldiers reportedly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat with multiple casualties and gunshot wounds.
“Unfortunately, two of our personnel paid the supreme price during the exchange of fire.

“Their remains have been evacuated to the hospital for autopsy,” it added.
Reinforcement teams were immediately deployed to the area in coordination with other security agencies, while joint patrols have been intensified to maintain peace and prevent further attacks.
The Nigerian Army commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, reaffirming the military’s commitment to sustaining ongoing operations to rid Zamfara and surrounding areas of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
