Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have rescued six abducted women and children and arrested several suspected terrorist collaborators during a series of operations conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY across the North-East.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday night by the Media Information Officer, Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Sani Uba, the operations were carried out following intelligence-driven missions targeting terrorist activities in the region.

The military disclosed that troops, acting on credible intelligence after an air interdiction mission around the Mandara Mountains, successfully rescued six abductees at a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda on May 12, 2026.

The rescued victims were identified as Aisha Musa, 18; Aisha Mohammed, 17, Fatima Yahaya, 20, Saudatu Musa, 4, Garba Mohammed, 5, and three-month-old Mohammed Yahaya.

The victims were among residents of the Ngoshe community who were abducted during an attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on March 3, 2026.

Military authorities said the victims received immediate medical attention at a military facility before being reunited with their families through the Ngoshe community leader, Mallam Adamu Gunda.

In a separate operation carried out the same day, troops deployed at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area arrested a suspected terrorist associate identified as Hauwa Bulama, 40.

Items recovered from the suspect include detergent, washing soap, a torchlight, and food seasoning cubes.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was allegedly travelling to Gezuwa to meet four of her children believed to be members of the terrorist group.

The military further disclosed that troops under Sector 2, supported by Military Intelligence operatives, later arrested two additional suspects identified as Bakura, 18, and Adiza, 17, in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The arrests followed intelligence obtained from ongoing investigations and communication intercepts linked to an earlier operation involving the arrest of a suspected ammunition courier, Ba’akaka Abubakar, also known as Modogol.

According to preliminary findings, Adiza was allegedly assigned to collect ammunition from the courier for delivery to a terrorist commander.

The suspects are currently in custody while efforts continue to apprehend the commander and recover the ammunition.

The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining military offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians, and restoring peace across the North-East.

The Military High Command also commended troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to maintain the current operational momentum.
