Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during a swift counter-terrorism operation along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The rescue operation was conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists around Mehinua Village in the area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer, Lt Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 swiftly mobilised to the location after receiving the intelligence and made contact with the terrorists.
The troops engaged the terrorists forcing the criminals to abandon their captives and flee the area.
The six kidnapped victims were subsequently rescued unharmed, while the vehicle involved was also recovered.
The rescued victims and the vehicle were later handed over to the relevant community authorities for further necessary action.

The latest operation highlights the increasing pressure being mounted by security forces against terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North-West, particularly along vulnerable rural routes and communities.
Operation Fansan Yamma said the successful intervention underscores the determination of its troops to protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across its Joint Operations Area.
The military also commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security formation.
The latest rescue comes amid sustained military operations across the North-West aimed at disrupting terrorist networks, preventing kidnappings and restoring security along major highways and vulnerable communities.
