Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims In Plateau

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims in separate operations across Plateau State as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks operating in the state.

The operations, conducted in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas, are part of sustained military efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action and restore peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.

This was contained in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Capt. Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, on Wednesday night.

In the first operation, troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa Local Government Area launched a search-and-rescue operation after receiving credible information about the abduction of a man identified as Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo.

According to the statement, the operation resulted in the successful rescue of the victim.

In a separate operation in Kanam Local Government Area, troops of Sector 2 encountered suspected terrorist elements during a fighting patrol around Kukawa village in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26.

The troops immediately pursued the fleeing criminals, forcing them to abandon a kidnapped victim identified as Mallam Sambo Abdullahi.

The victim was subsequently rescued by the troops and taken to safety.

According to the military, both rescued victims were debriefed and later reunited with their families.

The latest operations further demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s continued reliance on intelligence, aggressive patrols and rapid response to counter kidnapping and other criminal activities across Plateau State.

The Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive actions in disrupting criminal activities and rescuing the victims.

Dangana urged the troops to sustain the operational tempo and remain proactive in their efforts to deny terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.

He also appealed to residents to remain calm and exercise caution while continuing to support security agencies with credible information that could assist ongoing operations.

Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining coordinated operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across Plateau State.
