Donald Trump remains in excellent health despite experiencing slight lower-leg swelling and minor bruising on his hands, according to a medical report released by the White House on Friday.
The memo, authored by White House physician Sean Barbabella following Trump’s medical examination on Tuesday, stated that the 79-year-old president remains fully capable of performing his official duties.
“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” Barbabella wrote.
The physician added that Trump is “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
Trump underwent the examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, marking his third visit to the facility within 13 months.
The visit attracted public attention after recent photographs appeared to show swollen ankles, bruised hands and discoloration around his neck, sparking questions about his health.
Speaking with reporters after the appointment, Trump said, “Everything checked out perfectly.”
According to the report, the president continues to experience “slight lower leg swelling,” which Barbabella said had improved since last year.
The physician also described the hand bruising as common and harmless, attributing it to minor soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshakes while taking low-dose aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

The report did not provide details regarding treatment Trump reportedly received for a skin condition on his neck earlier in the year, nor did it indicate whether he underwent a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan similar to one conducted in October.
Trump, who is expected to turn 80 in June, became the oldest person to assume the U.S. presidency.
Throughout his political career, he has frequently contrasted his physical fitness and energy levels with those of his predecessor, Joe Biden, who left office at age 82 amid concerns about his capacity to serve.
The medical assessment stated that Trump’s cardiac function remains normal and that a comprehensive neurological examination showed no abnormalities.
“A comprehensive neurological examination demonstrated normal mental status,” the report noted, adding that screenings for depression and anxiety also produced normal results.
Barbabella said the president received preventive health counseling, including recommendations on diet, increased physical activity, continued weight management and the use of low-dose aspirin.
The report further stated that Trump stands 6 feet 3 inches (190 centimetres) tall and weighs 238 pounds (108 kilograms).
