Two Injured as Trucks Collide on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Two persons were injured in the early hours of Sunday following a collision involving two trucks at the Arepo Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident reportedly occurred around 4 a.m. and involved an empty American Cola truck and a Seaco truck, causing disruption to traffic along the busy highway.

Eyewitnesses said the crash left one of the drivers with severe injuries, prompting his immediate evacuation to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The second driver was said to have sustained minor injuries.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps were seen at the scene working to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.

The damaged trucks were being towed off the road as motorists experienced gridlock along the route.

A witness, Ibukun Victoria, confirmed that while one of the drivers was badly injured, the other escaped with less serious wounds.

Another motorist who witnessed the incident blamed the accident on waste materials allegedly left on the expressway, which he said may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities are continuing efforts to manage traffic around the affected area as more details surrounding the incident are expected to emerge.
