United States Congressman Riley Moore has raised fresh concerns over attacks on Christian communities in Benue State, recounting harrowing testimonies from internally displaced persons during his visit to the state.
In a detailed post shared on his official X handle, on Wednesday, December 10, Moore said, “While in Benue, I met with dozens of Christians who were driven from their homes and subjected to horrific violence and now live in IDP camps.”
He wrote that the survivors gave “harrowing stories that will remain with me for the rest of my life.”
According to Moore, one woman narrated how she “was forced to watch as they killed her husband and five children. She, and her unborn child, barely escaped.”
He added that another woman said “her family was murdered in front of her and her baby was ripped from her womb.”

Moore also shared the account of a man whose “family was hacked to death in front of his eyes and his arm was permanently mangled.”
The congressman stated that “there are more than 600,000 Christians in IDP camps in Benue State alone,” insisting that displaced families “should be able to live in their ancestral homeland without fear of genocidal Fulani.”
Moore’s visit to Benue came shortly after meetings with Christian religious leaders and His Royal Highness James Ioruza, the traditional ruler of the Tiv people, where he said discussions centred on “the ongoing genocidal campaign by the Fulani in Benue State.”
His comments also follow an earlier meeting in Abuja with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as part of a US congressional delegation assessing Nigeria’s security landscape.
Moore concluded his post with a firm pledge of solidarity, declaring, “Our brothers and sisters in Christ will no longer suffer in silence.”
