Osborne, the son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has officially picked up the chairmanship nomination form for Ohaozara Local Government Area (LGA) ahead of the upcoming Ebonyi council elections.
He was among the aspirants endorsed by Governor Francis Nwifuru as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the election across the state’s 13 LGAs. The endorsement sparked varied reactions from political observers, with Umahi describing it as the height of appreciation by the governor.
On Friday, the 16th of January, 2026, Osborne, flanked by supporters and well-wishers, secured the N30 million form at the party secretariat in Abakaliki.

When approached by journalists, he, however, declined to comment.
Speaking at the secretariat, the State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Francis Ori, expressed confidence in Osborne’s capabilities. “He is a chip of the old block and will replicate his father’s wonders in Ebonyi as former governor and as minister in Nigeria. The people are solidly behind him and would further demonstrate such support at the polls,” Ori said.
