US Embassy Warns Citizens In Abuja Over Possible Iran-Related Protests

The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a security alert warning American citizens of a high potential for protests in the Nigerian capital on Wednesday, March 4, due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

The alert, posted on the embassy’s official X handle on Wednesday, urged US citizens to remain indoors and avoid areas where demonstrations may occur.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja informs U.S. citizens that there is a high potential for protests in Abuja today, March 4, 2026, due to the current conflict with Iran,” the alert read.

The embassy noted that previous protests by some groups have resulted in violent clashes with Nigerian security forces.

“The Embassy strongly recommends that all U.S. citizens in Abuja remain in their residences on Wednesday, March 4,” it said.

The alert included detailed safety instructions for American citizens in the capital.

The embassy said its Consular Sections in Abuja and Lagos remain open and urged citizens to monitor the embassy website for updates.

First Daily earlier reported that the U.S. Embassy also announced the cancellation of visa appointments in Abuja over protest fears.

The alert comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli airstrikes on Saturday, which have since been followed by additional strikes targeting facilities linked to Iran’s leadership transition process.
