US Troops Storm Nigeria To Boost Anti-Terror War Efforts

The first group of the 200 United States (US) military personnel slated to support Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts has reportedly arrived in the country.

Sahel security analyst Brant Philip revealed on his X account on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2026, that the US troops’ role “are only to provide training, advice, and intelligence analysis to their Nigerian counterparts.”

He further explained that the personnel “are also responsible for ensuring the steady delivery of ammunition and equipment to the Nigerian Army, which will likely consist primarily of munitions for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF.”

According to Philip, additional U.S. Air Force transport flights are expected to continue landing at multiple locations across Nigeria, with Kainji and Maiduguri Airbases likely among the destinations, the latter being given priority.
