Nollywood actor Odira Nwobu, 43, has on Monday, November 24, 2025, died in his sleep during a vacation in South Africa, friends and colleagues have confirmed.
Nwobu, who was in Johannesburg with eight other influencers, had been experiencing high blood pressure and chest pains throughout the trip.
According to actor Daddy Billy, Nwobu suffered palpitations two days before his death, with a blood pressure reading of 171 mmHg.
He was given medication at a pharmacy, which temporarily stabilized him. On Sunday, however, he did not take his blood pressure medication, Billy added.
The day before his death, Nwobu visited an amusement park with friends but initially declined a ride due to his condition. He was later convinced to join, after which his chest discomfort reportedly worsened.
That evening, he went clubbing, visiting four clubs with the group. Despite continuing complaints of pain, he remained active and later returned to his accommodation.
After attempting to film an advertisement, Nwobu went to bed and was later found unresponsive. Emergency services confirmed his death at the scene.
Friends and health analysts suggest that high blood pressure complications, potentially aggravated by alcohol and energy drinks, may have contributed to his death.

His family has not yet released a public statement.
