The outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, has congratulated Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan on his appointment as her successor, expressing confidence that he will consolidate ongoing reforms in the Federal Civil Service.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Enitan as the incoming Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026, when Walson-Jack is scheduled to retire from the Federal Civil Service upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60. Enitan is currently the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, and is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Service.
In a congratulatory message, Walson-Jack described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Enitan’s distinguished career, experience and dedicated service to the country.
She noted that, as the most senior Permanent Secretary, Enitan had been an integral participant in reforms being implemented across the Federal Civil Service and expressed confidence that he would build on the achievements recorded so far while strengthening professionalism and institutional effectiveness.
“I am confident that the incoming Head of the Civil Service would build on the achievements already attained, while strengthening professionalism.”
Walson-Jack stressed the strategic importance of the Civil Service to national development, noting that it remained central to the effective implementation of government policies and programmes.
She therefore urged the incoming HCSF to consolidate gains in professionalism, innovation, accountability and institutional capacity, while promoting citizen-centred service delivery.
The outgoing Head of Service said she looked forward to Enitan providing leadership that would further strengthen the capacity of the Service to respond effectively to the changing demands of governance and public administration.
“The Civil Service is central to the effective implementation of Government policies and programmes. I therefore look forward to Mr. Enitan building on the gains already recorded while strengthening professionalism, innovation, accountability, institutional capacity and citizen-centred service delivery.”

Walson-Jack also wished Enitan wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance as he prepares to assume the country’s top administrative position in the Federal Civil Service.
“As I prepare to hand over the leadership of the Service, I wish him wisdom, strength, good health and God’s guidance in this important national assignment.”
She congratulated Enitan once again and wished him a successful tenure.
Walson-Jack assumed office as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in August 2024, succeeding Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan. She is scheduled to formally exit the position on August 27, 2026.
Enitan brings more than seven years of experience as a Permanent Secretary, having served in the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President before his current posting to the Federal Ministry of Education.
His appointment signals a transition in leadership at the apex of Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service, with Walson-Jack calling for continuity in the reform agenda and further strengthening of professionalism, accountability and service delivery.
